Change

After seven talented and award-winning years of working for Milestones, Britta is striking out on her business adventure. Britta started with Milestones before she even graduated from MSUM and it’s been amazing to watch her grow. She’s been a significant reason for the success of Milestones and I will always be thankful for her.

I’ve told many people that she’s the most talented photographer in the country to not own her own business so I wasn’t surprised when she told me she wanted to leave Milestones at the end of 2011. She’s got a big artistic voice and needs her own vehicle to share it with the world. Even though she’ll be on her own we still have plans to collaborate occasionally which I’ll enjoy.

Britta, thank you for your gifts of friendship and artistic talent.

Nicole + Doug

The fall of 2011 will be remembered as one of our favorites for a long, long time. Not only was the weather amazing for our part of the country, all our weddings were nearly flawless. Nicole and Doug’s ceremony was held at Hope North with a wonderful reception following at the Fargo Country Club (complete with fireworks!).

Nicole and Doug planned a couple of elements at the reception we really enjoy. First, they performed their first dance right when they walked in the door. This is a great way to start off a party when everyone is already on their feet cheering for the new couple and all eyes are on them.

The other nice touch was the lack of a head table, believe it or not. When bridal parties sit at the same tables as the rest of the guests it makes it easier for them to have conversations with each other and the guests and I think it provides for a more relaxed atmosphere in general. If you’re planning a wedding it’s something to think about!

Congrats, Nicole and Doug!

Jill + Ross

I’m not sure how, be we end up photographing the nicest, sweetest, most awesome wedding couples ever. Jill and Ross absolutely exemplify this observation and we were so, so lucky to have documented their September wedding. The wedding ceremony was held at Fargo’s one and only Hope Lutheran South with the reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. We started off at the church then headed to downtown to Island Park for some fun, pre ceremony portraits. It was such a fabulous, laid-back and super wonderful day!

Julie + Lynn: An Arizona Wedding

Julie and Lynn have a really sweet story of coming together later in life after both being widowed. They’ve known each other for years so there’s already a depth to their relationship most couples strive to reach. Britta and I were honored to be a part of their wedding weekend at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz. this fall.

We showed up ready to work hard and what do they go and do? They practically make us feel like family by expecting us to have fun too! Luckily I think we were able to work hard while having fun. Friday evening we were invited to their home for a pre-wedding celebration where Lynn’s son made some spectacular food. It was wonderful getting to know the rest of the family and friends that traveled in for the event.

The day of the wedding started with a portrait session in the morning (they say it gets hot in the afternoon in Arizona) and everywhere we turned we saw wonderful photos and backdrops. Coming from the Red River Valley we were like kids in a candy store with the gorgeous desert and cactus garden at the foot of Camelback Mountain.

The ceremony was sweet and emotional with a touching remembrance of their loved ones – barely a dry eye in the entire garden. The dinner reception had fun air of celebration with some of the most spectacular food we’ve ever enjoyed – seared scallops on a bed of split pea risotto anyone? Wow.

We’re so glad we were able to participate in Julie and Lynn’s wedding and even more thankful for the way we were welcomed into their home and lives!

The Gallagher Four

This sweet little family visited us at the studio a few weeks ago. We had a blast running around our natural light studio then headed over to the beloved Armour park just a few blocks for our space. Little Finn had a great time showing his cute little smile (and frowny face) while little bro Declan mostly chilled with his pop.
